Vacation Rental Description
Experience Texan hospitality and a taste of the 'Real West' with a stay on the Running-R Guest Ranch in the heart of the beautiful Hill Country. Ride exciting trails amid a breathtaking scenery on the ranch and in the adjoining State Park with over 5,500 acres!
We are focusing on horseback riding and are proud to offer the best program in the area with rides up to 5 hours for beginners as well as for advanced riders. Lessons in our big arena are also available.
Enjoy home-cooked meals, barbecues, cowboy breakfasts or join the other ranch activities. Relax at the swimming-pool or just sit on the porch and watch the beautiful sunsets.
Experience a western atmosphere at a place where you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.
Our rates include two meals per day (breakfast and lunch), two hours of horseback riding each day and all amenities at the ranch (not included are taxes and gratuities). As riding is the main attraction here and we are located right next to a 5,500 acre State Park (giving us almost 40 miles of different trails to ride on), we are proud to say that we have the best riding program in this area. Our guests have the option to take the 2-hour ride in the morning or the afternoon or split it up into two 1-hour rides. They can book additional hours for just $23 per hour if they'd like to go out more often or to do longer rides and the variety of trails offers slow relaxed rides for beginners and some challenging rides for the more experienced riders. Also, our guests are always welcome to join our cowboys and cowgirls in the barn giving them a hand feeding or grooming the horses.
Beside that there's a horseshoe pitching area, a ping pong table and of course a nice swimming-pool outside. In our big lodge you can play pool, watch TV or videos, play some board games or just relax in front of the open fireplace or in the rocking chairs on the porch. You're also welcome to use one of our mountain-bikes to explore the State Park and surrounding area a little further whenever you wish.
We do not serve dinner to give our guests the chance to have some time "off" and do things without being tied to any set schedule. In general our guests head into the nearest town, Bandera (the self-proclaimed "Cowboy Capital of the World"!), for something to eat in the evening. It's only 10 miles away and there are several great restaurants to choose from. You may combine that with a visit to the local honkytonks and dancehalls or the seasonal weekly rodeos - there is always something going on in town. If you find that our breakfast and lunch are big enough meals (they are, trust me!!) that you just want something small to eat in the evening, there are refrigerators in all of the cabins, there's a microwave you can use in our lodge building and there are also BBQ pits available for you to do your own grilling. The choice is yours!
