Vacation Rental Description

There are currently three hand-crafted log guest cabins at the 'Escape, each 480 sq ft and visually isolated in order to enhance guest privacy. Each cabin is equipped with a queen-sized bed, sofa (1 cabin) or double fold-down futon (2 cabins), rocker chair, wood burning stove, full bath (tub/shower unit with hot and cold running water and indoor plumbing!) and double propane burner for complimentary coffee/tea/hot chocolate. We provide all bedding and linen, of course, and kindling and firewood is stacked on the deck for use in the stove. Cooking is not allowed in the cabins, as we are in a wilderness environment and do not want to entice Mother Nature's less-lovable creatures to inspect a cabin. Instead, meals are prepared on a wood cook stove or, weather permitting, on an open campfire and served family-style in a central cook house. Cowboy cuisine and bush baking are standard fare, and Laura is always happy to modify her menu to meet special dietary requirements.

Rocky Mountain Escape's credo is to protect our environment. We're committed to conserving this unique subalpine ecosystem, enabling guests to enjoy an unspoiled wilderness experience. Through our efforts, and of others committed to sustainable development, our secluded valley has been designated as a Wildlands Park under the Alberta Special Places 2000 Act. Here, we accept nature on her own terms and, rather than conquer wilderness, we try to co-exist in harmony. Our trails are wilderness trails and the wildlife that inhabits or passes thru our area are truly wild. We cater to folks looking for a quiet, scenic, non-touristy spot from which to enjoy our mountain environment. As our guests, you'll be treated to hearty, wholesome meals, served family-style in a central cookhouse. Hot breakfasts will prepare you for the days activities and a bagged lunch will see you thru your journey along the trail or shoreline. The evening meal is prepared on an open campfire, weather permitting, or in Cookie's wood cook stove and is often sprinkled with local wild plants, complimentary wine and wild stories. The 'Escape cabins are located in a secluded, subalpine valley amongst the front ranges of the Rocky Mountains, adjacent to Jasper National Park (east backcountry boundary) and vast, undeveloped Willmore Wilderness. The cabins sit at an elevation of 5,000 ft. with the Hoff range to our immediate east, Moosehorn Mountains to our south and the Willmore mountains to our north at well over 7,000 ft. We have taken advantage of a clearing left by an abandoned sawmill site (functional between 1950 and 1954) on which to construct the cook house and have tucked the cabins amongst the trees. Constructed for high energy efficiency, your cabin needs a minimal amount of energy to keep it toasty warm. Solar-powered units deliver lighting and efficient wood stoves provide heat in each of the three cabins, each of which accommodates up to four guests. A well-screened generator runs a minimum amount of time to provide water pressure for hot showers, to run the refrigeration and deep freeze for food storage and, of course, to provide Cookie with her morning coffee! Rental Rates Summary

Peak Season (June 1 - September 30): $125 per adult per night. Children 6 - 16 are half price; children 5 and under are no charge. Guests are not charged for overnight rate when out on an overnight excursion. Price includes private cabin accommodation, double occupancy, guided day hikes, transportation to and from trailheads and all meals Off Peak Season (October 1 to May 31): $100 per adult per night; children 6 to 16 years of age at $50/child/night. Rate includes your private cabin accommodation, all meals, guided day hike/x-country ski/snowshoe trip and transportation to and from trailheads. Romantic Getaway Specials: $350 per couple, subject to availability, during our Off Season. Please inquire.
