Vacation Rental Description

The Caboose, at waters edge, is located on a protected deep water cove with a big water view in the central area of Lake Murray, Chapin. This unique property is nestled on a quiet dead end street. Open the sliding glass doors from the living room and walk down four steps to the 120 foot dock with a 12 x 20 floating pier.

This is an actual Caboose from the L & N Railroad that was relocated to Lake Murray from St Louis by rail to be renovated and enlarged as a guest quarters to include a full bedroom and living room addition.

Charming, fully furnished, kitchen complete with utensils, dishes, cookware and small appliances. Enjoy breakfast sitting on the passenger's bench overlooking Lake Murray. The caboose's cupola provides natural lighting and an elevated view of the lake. You will have use of both a Canoe and Kayak boat, life jackets and paddles are included. There are also cane fishing poles available for fishing of the dock.

All linens and towels are furnished. There is a full size bed in the bedroom, a full size futon in the living room, and a twin bed in the caboose. Sleeps 5.

Close access to Interstate 26 to Downtown Columbia. Located less then two miles to a public boat ramp, less then 4 miles to Crooked Creek Park, a 57-acre park including a double gymnasium, racquetball, baseball fields, soccer fields, lighted tennis courts and a jogging trail, and less then 6 miles to Chapin, "The Capital of Lake Murray."

If you are planning a trip to meet family or friends along the Eastern part of the USA we are about half way between New York (725 mi.) and Miami (648 mi.). If staying for a week you may find it just a short drive to places like Myrtle Beach (170 mi.) & Charleston, SC (100 mi.), Atlanta, Ga. (190 mi.) and Augusta, Ga. home of The Masters Golf Classic (50 mi.)
