Rorbucamping in the wild and quiet fjord and mountain area Steinfjorden on the Atlantic side of the LOFOTEN islands, Norway. In Maervoll in Steinfjorden you find the budget accommodation Joh. L. Unstad Sjohus (Johluns). The white seahouse (Johluns) has ten rorbu rooms (2-6 beds per room) with a total of 40 beds for rent. The seahouse has its own quay with a gorgeous view to the fjord and the proud sea alpine Lofoten mountains Himmeltindene (the Heaven Peaks). The seahouse is spacious with special good opportunities for backpackers, youth groups and other low budget groups. A cottage for 4 persons is also for rent (from NOK 3600 until NOK 4100/week). Situation: in Steinfjorden on the Atlantic side of the Lofoten island Vestvagoy at the hamlet Sortland close to Maervoll in Lofoten. The seahouse was earlier in use for the cod and tusk (brosme) fishery during the winter and summer seasons and had then the name Maervoll Produksjonslag (fishermen cooperation). Rent: from NOK 350-600 (2-6 beds) per rorbu room per night. If for instance four persons share a rorbu room, the rent will be NOK 500/night or NOK 125 per person. Two persons per room NOK 350/room/night, six persons NOK 600. The guests decide themselves how many persons there are to be in a rorbu room (one orders a room, not a bed). The seahouse is only 10 km from the Viking museum Lofotr at Borg and the Church of Borge parish. Only 4 km from the seahouse on of Europes best surfing spots for wave surfing is located.

Area Description

Maervoll  you find in Steinfjorden between Tangstad and Unstad (Unnstad) in Borge on the northwestern (Atlantic) part of the Lofoten island and municipality Vestvagoy, 10 km from the Viking museum Lofotr at Borg and 19 km from the municipal and administrative centre Leknes (airfield with air connection to Bodo (Bodoe), and 35 km from Stamsund with boat connection to Bodo (Hurtigruten between Bergen and Kirkenes). The seahouse has its own quay and are surrounded by high mountains. The location should therefore have both beach and mountains marked.
