Area Description
Visit the main street boardwalk and watch the surfers in the afternoon. Each end of the island has beautiful walking parks where sailboats, large motored vessels and wild life can be seen. During your visit to the National Seashore Park (5 miles), learn the history of the island and climb Turtle Mound to see outstanding views of the intercoastal and the ocean. Bicycle down to Manatee park (3 miles) or kayak with the manatee and dolphin. During sea turtle nesting season you can be part of the preservation of the turtles by protecting the nests.
