Vacation Rental Description
Casa Montezuma is located 3 kilometers south of the town of Montezuma and 300 meters from the Gulf of Nicoya in the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, tucked away in a serene grove of lush vegetation, part of a natural wildlife corridor. The area is well-known as a longevity and ecotourism hotspot. It is 5 kilometers north of Cabo Blanco Absolute Nature Reserve, Costa Rica's first natural reserve.
This lovely three-story hardwood house is surrounded by tropical beauty, in the midst of a what could be called a nature park. Monkeys, coatimundis, agoutis and anteaters often scamper through the 2 acre grounds, while toucans, parrots and eagles glide by overhead. Amazing butterflies feed on the exotic flora. All this, yet only 300m from the beach!
The outstanding architectural design offers two stories of living space and an observation deck on the third level. The observation deck is the place to enjoy your morning coffee as you watch the tropical animals and birds in the surrounding tree canopy.
The house sleeps up to six adults quite comfortably, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. There is an outside shower for rinsing off after the beach as well as an inside shower with hot water. Each floor has an open area to sit and enjoy the tropical trees and flowers. You'll feel the stress melt away as you listen to the peaceful sound of the stream that runs by the house.
The wonderful layout of windows and doors offer great views and all are screened to invite in the fresh ocean breeze. Water is provided by a spring-fed well: pure enough to bottle and sell! A storeroom (bodega) offers a place to keep things locked up.
Casa Montezuma includes free wireless broadband internet and SkyTV satellite television with HBO, as well as weekly cleaning service and two bicycles.
Area Description
… a look at the list below shows why Montezuma has become one of the “must visit” spots in Costa Rica.
NATURE RESERVES: There are three protected Nature Reserves in the area. Cabo Blanco is the closest at only 5km from the house, and was the first Absolute Nature Preserve in the country. Here you'll see the giant electric-blue Morpho butterfly, huge iguanas, monkeys and maybe some coati mundis. At the nearby Curu Nature Reserve, you may even be lucky enough to spot a sloth!
NIGHTLIFE: Montezuma is rightly famous for its many fine restaurants, nightclubs, full moon festivals, and artisans. After a full day of fun and adventure, you’ll enjoy a sumptuous dinner right on the moonlit beach. The Playa de los Artistas restaurant is not to be missed, and has even been reviewed in the New York Times. For more typical Tico fare and ambiance, try the family-style “sodas” (diners) in the small fishing village of Cabuya.
BEACHES: Stroll to the secluded, sheltered beach only 300m from your door! Or, explore the miles of other beautiful sand beaches that stretch out close to your home base.
SURFING: Nearby Malpais (7km) and Santa Teresa provide world-class waves, or you can shred on the nice left at the Los Cedros break, which is a short walk from the house.
HORSE TOURS: Many local tours are available. For example, a half-day tour that takes you along the beach to a spectacular waterfall. Please contact us for arrangements.
WATERFALLS: The area is noted for a number of scenic waterfalls. All will enchant you with rushing cascades of cool fresh water and will present breathtaking photo opportunities.
