Area Description

Hermanus is the breeding ground to the Southern Right Whale which returns to Hermanus each year from July to November. Hermanus is famous for the best land based whale watching in the world and also its pristine Blue Flag Beaches and the Cliff path which stretches along the town. The Hermanus Golf Club has just been extended and will soon have 27 holes.
The Arabella Golf Estate is only 15 kms away and in nearby Gansbaai you can take Great White Shark excursions. Travelling in the opposite direction you can view penguins at Betty's Bay. The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is home to some of the top wines in South Africa and in particular the cooler climate assists in producing Pinoit Noir and Chardonnay wines which are internationally recognised. The Fernkloof Nature Reserve has routes over 40 kms of hiking trails and at the foot of the Mosselberg Mountains there is a mountain bike trail. Hermanus is famous for its champagne air and visitors return year after year to this town with its array of restaurants, galleries and shops.
